Who says yellowtail snapper won’t take a top-water plug?

Surprise catch of the day!

We purchased some Rapala X-RAP Walk top water plugs to use for mackerel this season and were putting them to the test the other day when we had quite the surprise.

As we were trying for ceros, yellowtail snapper and baby amberjack kept attacking the plug with abandon.  This 12-incher was one of about a half dozen we caught.  They all ate the plug right on the top.

We also ended up catching cero with it and eventually lost the plug to a 10-pounder.
