Catch-and-release shark fishing followed by snapper fishing kept the Doster clan busy all afternoon.
Jarod and Tanya Doster and their boys, Cole and Logan, are vacationing at Conch Key Cottages just East of Marathon Florida Keys. When they got to town, they knew right off they wanted to include some fishing so they called us and asked about options.
This time of year, we have lots of options for fishing the waters surrounding Marathon. We have snapper and grouper on the reef and in the bay, dolphin and tuna offshore plus shallow-water shark fishing.
The Dosters chose one of our six-hour trips that combines snapper and shark fishing in Florida Bay.
We started off in our shark hunting grounds and put everyone to the test with our toothy friends. Dad, Mom and young Logan each landed one lemon shark, while ten-year-old Cole won the battle with three big fish.
With the show accomplished, we moved on to catch dinner. A limit of mangrove snapper means at least four meals for these hungry anglers.
