Visiting from Titusville FL, Adam Meyer treated his sons, Isaiah (13) and Carson (7) to a half day of fishing with SeaSquared Charters.
We first headed out to one of my Gulf wrecks and then a grass bank, where the guys put the hurt on the mangrove snapper, bringing about a dozen back to the dock for dinner.
With that accomplished, the boys declared they wanted to pull on something bigger that fought a bit harder. So I moved to a bank cut that was just loaded with jack crevalle.
Isaiah and Carson got bit on every cast and put fish after fish in the boat – all in the three- to five-pound class. These jacks make excellent shark bait, and the boys did me a great favor as I have a couple of shark trips coming up!
After I cleaned their fish and said my good-byes to the Meyer men, Jason, Alex and I jumped back out to get more jack crevalle while the getting was so good. Here’s the sum total we ended up with …
