Family fishing for mangroves in the mangroves

Annual visit for the Volkert clan.

Christy’s family, the Volkerts from Long Island, are here for their annual visit, and we were happy to get them out for a quickie snapper trip.

Predictions were for a windy day, so we tucked into Sister’s Creek where we found very calm water, beautiful scenery and a lot of fish to keep us entertained.

Fred, Linda and Alison Volkert, from Rockville Centre NY, had a good family time learning to cast the line, feel the bite and reel in the fish.  Since Christy got to go along, we have lots of pictures of our outing.

Each of them caught some mangrove snapper, which I cooked for dinner.

They also got some mackerel and jacks that are resting nicely in my shark bait freezer.

When we had enough fishing, we motored through Boot Key Harbor over to Burdine’s for a great lunch with more amazing Marathon Florida Keys scenery.
