When Larry Bruck called to book his charter, he told us they had mostly fished on lakes.
We love having first-timers on the boat. As much fun as it is to watch them catch fish after fish, we love introducing them to the beauty of America’s only living coral reef.
Larry and his adult children, Collin and Lauryn, were quick learners and put a hurt on the yellowtail snapper on the reef. The bite was so good, we self-imposed a 14-inch minimum size. The trio of anglers put their limit of 30 yellowtails in the box and easily released another 30.
The Bruck family, from Inverness IL, was staying at Tranquility Bay Resort and planned to dine on the snapper over the next few days at Porky’s, Castaway and Burdine’s. They had so much fun they’re already planning a return visit and thinking of going on a shark wrangling adventure.
