Captain’s Blog – March 19, 2010 – Marathon Florida Keys – Jim Snyder brought his sons and grandson from Ohio for another trip on the SeaSquared.
We headed out to the reef edge in search of yellowtail snapper, but found that fishing to be a bit slow. So we came inside to some patches where we were pleased to find just the opposite. The four guys got their limit of yellowtail and mangrove snapper in about 90 minutes.
With plenty of time left in their charter, I took them to the bay to fish for Spanish mackerel. They caught untold numbers and kept about 20. We still couldn’t stretch the fishing out to fill a full day, so we headed back to the dock after 6 hours of fishing.
I then spent another three and a half hours filleting their fish. Whew!
