The SeaSquared Crew

Capt. Jason Bell SeaSquared Charters Marathon Florida KeysCapt. Jason Bell

Capt. Jason was born with gills. A true Conch, he has spent his entire life in Marathon and has never had an interest in anything other than fishing.  A third-generation charter boat Captain, Jason was still in diapers when he caught his first fish. He is proficient with every type of fishing we have here in Marathon, whether it’s offshore for pelagics, on the reef/wrecks and bay/Gulf for various species and even on the flats for bonefish and more.  Capt. Jason has worked with SeaSquared Charters since he was 14, first as deckhand and now as full-time Captain on the original SeaSquared. He is an integral element in the success of SeaSquared Charters, and our reviews on TripAdvisor are testimonials to his talents.

Capt. Peter Lazo SeaSquared Charters Marathon Florida KeysCapt. Peter Lazo

Born and raised in the Florida Keys, Capt. Peter got his taste of the ocean while still in diapers.  So tiny all you could see was his orange life vest, his father put him in the live well to keep him occupied while on his commercial boat.   He started his journey of the fisherman's life as a mate at just 11 years old.  He went on to become deck boss on his family's lobster and stone crab vessel.  In 2019, Capt. Peter gained his captain's license and started working on various charter boats until the opportunity to join SeaSquared presented itself.   Capt. Peter's love of fishing and his zest for sharing that love with his guests is abundantly evident by the smiling faces in all of the pictures taken on his full-time ride, the SeaSquared Too!

Capt. Wayne Burri SeaSquared Charters Marathon Florida KeysCapt. Wayne Burri

A native Floridian, Capt. Wayne began his fishing career in the Cape Canaveral area.   Capt. Wayne and his wife, Christine, moved to the Keys in 2001 and he quickly put his fishing talents to work on various charter and private boats.   He originally joined the SeaSquared crew to fill in for Capt. Chris as needed. Now, with the acquisition of his beautiful 32-foot Century center console boat, the Wayne’s World, Capt. Wayne is a full-time member of the SeaSquared crew!

Capt. Alex Bell SeaSquared Charters Marathon Florida KeysCapt. Alex Bell

Brother to Capt. Jason and also a third-generation charter Captain, Capt. Alex added his family's boat, the Blue Magic, to the SeaSquared fleet in December 2015.   Capt. Alex has a diversified fishing career, with experience as a private boat Captain, a commercial fisherman and lobsterman. His talents cover the gamut of Keys fishing, including sailfish, offshore for dolphin and tuna, the reefs and wrecks and more.   The original Blue Magic was lost in Hurricane Irma in September 2017.  In 2018, Capt. Alex and his friend and deckhand, Steve Steenstra, formed a partnership and purchased the current Blue Magic.

Capt. Pierson Burton SeaSquared Charters Marathon Florida KeysCapt. Pierson Burton

Capt. Pierson hails from Bucks County PA, where he grew up fishing the Delaware and Susquehanna Rivers along with the Jersey Shore areas.  He graduated from Westchester University of PA with a degree in Environmental Health. A lifelong Florida Keys fishing vacationer, Capt. Pierson made the move south in 2018 to pursue his dream of being a charter boat captain.  Stints as a teacher and restaurant worker paid the bills until he landed his current gig, running the Five 7's. He enjoys bird hunting (not in the Keys, of course!), fishing out of his skiff and cooking.  He'll hook you up with some tasty fish recipes.

Capt. Sammie Jo Manning

Sammie Jo has always loved being on the water. At 8 years old she told her parents that she was going to be a boat captain - and she pursued that dream to make it a reality. She has fantastic people skills, cultivated during her time as a Cast Member at the Walt Disney World Resort. Sammie Jo is very knowledgeable about wildlife - both above and below water - as well as history of the Marathon area. After working on several boats, Sammie Jo is excited to pursue her next adventure on the water.
