Marathon Florida Keys Fishing Report, Capt. Chris Johnson, SeaSquared Charters, March 23, 2011
This family left their sea legs back in Illinois, so our half day charter turned into a quarter day charter. But, what a productive two hours it was for Rex, Bernie and Patrick Revesz!
The dolphin were running pretty close inshore, so that was my first target. We found a large school under some weeds, and the crew was just amazed by their flashing blue/green/yellow colors in the water. Of course, my aim was to put as many of them in the boat as possible. We put eight nice size gaffers – and a bonus blackfin tuna in the cooler when the call came to head back to the marina.
As much as I don’t like leaving fish, I’m glad the Revesz family experienced just a little of the fantastic fishing we have here in the Middle Florida Keys!
